Dream Village Cricket Academy started in late 2018, with the aim to build sustainable communities by improving quality of life through sports development and social development. We are passionate about inspiring young children to pursue the sport of cricket. Chandreshan, or as we call him, Chan, is our coach and the main drive of DVCA.

Growing up, Chan struggled through poverty and the consequences of a wrong path he took in life. However, he was determined to change his circumstances. Little did he know that cricket would change his outlook towards life and later on provide him with a dream to fight for. Cricket became a pathway for him to escape the circle of poverty and wrong peer influences. The cricket team took him in and nurtured his talents. Soon after, he was scouted and chosen to be part of the junior national development team and state team. Cricket gave Chan the motivation to attend school and perform in his studies, allowing him to enrol into a degree program in a public university with the privilege of a national athlete, which earned him a scholarship.

Unfortunately, Chan’s cricketing career hit a road bump due to a major injury. When Chan was recovering, the only thing that he had in his mind was life gave him so much but he had not given anything back to it. He held onto the words that it is always better to give than receive

Not everyone needs to become a national cricket player, but through the journey in that pathway, children will discover their dreams and gain a positive perspective towards life, especially the marginalised children. To give them hope, a positive perspective, joy, and confidence to overcome limitations; that is the power of grassroots sports.

Fast forward to 2020, 12 Orang Asli children and 15 low-cost flats community children are part of our team. DVCA is putting all its effort to build the platform that equips and helps children journey the same pathway to achieve greater heights through the sport of cricket, just as it did for Chan. DVCA does not want to stop here but aspires to build a pathway for 1000 children. This effort cannot be only from DVCA alone; DVCA issues a call to every individual who wants to see marginalised children around this world achieve their dream!
